The Equality Machine is a contrarian constructive response to debates on AI, automation, and datafication. The book examines distributive justice and the potential – as well as risks – of digital technology to tackle inequities in our labor markets, media, government, health, family, and intimate relations.
Lobel is the Warren Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of San Diego and the Director of the Center for Employment and Labor Law (CELP). She is the award-winning author of several books and a leading scholar in behavioral law and policy and regularly advises government and private industry on competition law and tech.
Harris is a Distinguished Professor at Northeastern University and Affiliated Faculty and a Senior Fellow at the Burnes Center for Social Change where he runs the Initiative on Labor and Economic Justice. Prior to joining Northeastern University, Seth was the Deputy Assistant to President Biden for Labor and the Economy and Deputy Director of the Biden White House’s National Economic Council.
