This exciting series brings together changemakers from a variety of fields to explore how AI can offer fresh solutions to the challenges facing modern democratic governance.
The series returns on September 12 with David Lesher, a veteran California journalist and state policy expert and the creator of the Digital Democracy project. Through his work with Digital Democracy, David is spearheading the use of AI to create unprecedented legislative transparency and accountability in California. Learn how Digital Democracy is tracking every word spoken in public hearings, every dollar donated to politicians, every bill introduced, every vote cast, and more. We will talk about the impact of their work in California and what it will take to bring these lessons to other legislatures and parliaments to repair the lack of trust in representative democracy.
The virtual lecture will be hosted by Dr. Beth Simone Noveck. Beth is a professor at Northeastern University where she directs the Burnes Center and its partner project, The GovLab. Beth’s work focuses on using AI to reimagine participatory democracy and strengthen governance, and she has spent her career helping institutions incorporate more equitable and open ways of working using new technology.
