In a new episode of Lever Time, “America’s Biggest Tax Scam May Finally End,” The Lever’s Senior Podcast Producer, Arjun Singh interviews the Director of the Burnes Center for Social Change, Beth Simone Noveck. They discuss the government’s capability to actually build technology, in the context of the IRS announcing their plan to roll out a free program that will let Americans directly file their taxes online without using expensive tax-assistance programs.
Noveck has helped with several tech platforms for the government on the federal and state level. She shares her thoughts with Singh on how the public and private sectors should collaborate when creating technology and shares examples. Noveck explains how the private sector has the resources to build the most innovative technology, but needs the public sector directing so that public interest is prioritized.
